Encouraging healthy lifestyles – support for alternative modes of transportation in our city encourage Transit Oriented Development, “walkable” neighborhoods, and safety for pedestrian and bike use.
Offering universal accessibility – use by seniors and persons with disabilities promotes independence. Young professionals and students have a choice to own a car or not due to increased use and accessibility.
Placing more money in your pocket – use of MetroLink only once a year to go to the airport rather than driving and paying for long term airport parking puts you ahead on the pocketbook.
- Metro offers a cheaper alternative to driving and paying for most sporting and regional events, putting you money ahead.
- If more and more people use transit, putting downward pressure on gasoline prices, you are money ahead.
- If the average St. Louis family pays less than $50 per year for the new tax and one member is able to commute by MetroLink rather than by auto, they can save $2,000 in one year.
